Sodium Chloride Rock Salt is the standard for ice melt. There are better ice melt options but this melts to 5 degrees and is your most economical option. to reduce accidents and damage caused by ice. Simple. Proven. Effective. 100% Rock Salt can accelerate surface damage to concrete by increasing the number of freeze/thaw cycles. Poor-quality concrete is especially susceptible to damage, as are trees and plants. However, this product can prevent the hazards of slippery surfaces and people falling. Use this product only on good quality, air-entrained concrete for cold weather climates. Do not use on concrete that is less than one year old, has exposed aggregate, is precast, stamped, pre-stressed, chipped, cracked, spalled or weathered; or on stone, brick, mortar joints or wood. Not intended for melting ice on roofs, gutters or in downspouts.
